Location: The Caiman Ecological Refuge is located in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, 236 km from the capital, Campo Grande, and 36 km from the city of Miranda.
Accomodation: The Caiman Ecological Refuge has four comfortable lodges with different architectural styles. All are designed in combination with the landscape. With total capacity to accommodate up to 70 people distributed in these lodges, Caiman gives its guests the opportunity to get to know the wonders of the Pantanal in rustic comfort. Aside from the 4 lodges, Caiman also has 2 retreat structures for tours. They are the Retreats Santa Vóia and São Domingos. Both have a good infrastructure with screened areas to hang hammocks for overnight stays, as well as a kitchen and bathroom. They were strategically constructed for tours in far-off areas like the Cattle Drive. All the lodges are equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, private bathrooms with hot water, electric outlets adapted for 110 volts, living room, and pool. The lodges have independent infrastructures with meals, tours, and guides available, except the pousada Piuva, where only breakfast is served.
Dining: Our kitchen offers a varied menu that includes local and international food. Salads, pastas, meat and fish are served daily and are exquisitely prepared by cooks from the region. For dessert, besides those especially prepared, there are homemade sweets that are a real treat!
Leisure: Enjoy a photo safari tour in open vehicles. The 3 hour tour is the best way to reach places far from the farm. Crossing fields and stretches of jungle, this tour broadens opportunities to observe and photograph the wild life. The vehicle is used for longer photo safaris. At night, guests can go out for "night spotting? or observe, with the help of flashlights, nocturnal animals such as alligators, capybaras, anteaters, and small wolves. In addition, guests can also enjoy other activities such as boat tours and hikes throughout the area.
